Our Year in Summary: A Recap of the Past 12 Months
As the year comes to a close, we at Kreateng are reflecting on all that we have accomplished in the past 12 months. We are proud to say that this year has been one of growth and impact for our organization.
It all started with our Workshop Training for Techwomen Nigeria, sponsored by the US Embassy and consulate in Nigeria. We were honoured to have the opportunity to host this event and to take on one of the selected participants for an internship.
Throughout the year, we held six boot camps, including one in the Benin Republic, aimed at empowering young people with in-demand tech skills. We also held our first children’s boot camp, teaching the next generation the skills they need to succeed in the tech industry.
In addition to our in-person bootcamps, we also held online spaces for various tech-related courses, including “How to start a career in tech” and “getting into non-technical roles in tech.” These courses were a hit, with over 3,000 attendees.
Overall, we had over 5,000 applicants and trained over 500 participants in in-demand tech skills, both within and outside of Nigeria. We were fortunate to have the support of sponsors like Omegapro, Awacash, the Daniel Onoja Foundation, and the Igbobi College Old Boys Association.
In addition to our bootcamps, we also partnered with ICOBA to host a job fair as part of their 90th anniversary celebration. And, of course, we celebrated our own 3rd anniversary with the theme “Expanding reach beyond Africa,” inviting guests from partner companies to join us in the celebration.
We are grateful to our Board of advisory members, boot camp sponsors, partners, staff members and friends for making this such a remarkable year. We look forward to continuing to make an impact and expanding our reach even further in 2023.
